Symposium on "The Future of Energy" Under the Patronage of Iraqi Ministry of Oil and SPE

BUOG, represented by the Chancellor, Dr. Ali M. Al- Mashat, the Chancellor Assistant for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Abbas H. Abbas, Dean of Oil and Gas Engineering College, Sr. Firas Al- Badran and Dr. Mohammed Al- Mousawi have participated in the symposium "Iraq- The Petroleum Potentiality and the Future of Energy" that was held over two days under the patronage of his Excellency, Jabbar Al- Luiebi, Minister of Oil, Iraq, and in cooperation with the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). The event took place at (Basra International Hotel) and was attended by many international and Arab companies as well as Oil Specialists and Researchers.

The sessions have addressed specific issues related to ongoing projects including the investment and the economics of achieving the future vision such as development costs and oil prices, challenges in financing new projects, tax and duties, capturing and utilizing gas as well as the aspiration to introduce a legal framework that governs the energy sector in all its aspects in addition to the role and responsibilities of the local governments to support the petroleum industry.
