Dr. Abbas H. Abbas, the Chancellor Assistant for Administrative Affairs in BUOG, has participated in the consultative meeting between the Universities of the Free Zone in Iran with Basra Universities. The meeting, which was held in the Islamic Republic of Iran, was attended by the representative of the Iranian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the manager of the Free Zone and his Assistant Manager for Cultural Affairs; with the presence of the Iraqi side represented by Basra University, Basra University for Oil and Gas, South Technical University, Basra Oil Training Institute, Basra University of Science and Technology and Iraq University College.
Dr. Abass revealed that," during the meeting, it was agreed to hold a scientific cooperation agreement between the Iranian Universities and Basra Universities that includes training of the technical and administrative staff, training of students, take advantage of the libraries of both countries, joint supervision of graduate students and publishing in scientific journals of both countries". At the end of the meeting, both parties signed a final statement including the main points discussed; they expressed their interest to activate cooperation and scientific agreements to serve the two countries, and they agreed to hold a second meeting in Basra in the coming weeks.
