The College of Oil and Gas Engineering at Basra University of Oil and Gas held its first international conference on October 20-21, 2024, with the theme "Diverse Energy Resources, a power for the Nation's Renaissance." The event was sponsored by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, and supervised by the University President, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Hliyil Hafiz Al-Kaabi, along with the Dean of the College, Asst. Prof. Dr. Abbas Abdulameer Jasem.

Prof. Dr.  Mohammed Hliyil Hafiz Al-Kaabi highlighted the importance of research in advancing the oil and gas sector, while Dr. Abbas Abdulameer Jasem emphasized Basrah’s rich energy resources and the college's successful graduates. Prof. Dr. Ammar Kazem Al-Ba’aj, Chairman of Scientific Affairs , outlined the conference’s goal of sharing expertise in the oil and gas industry.

Keynote speaker Prof. Dr. Mohammed Saleh Al-Jawad led the scientific session, followed by a panel discussion featuring Mr. Marfa Al-Asadi from Basrah Gas Company, MP Adnan Al-Jaberi, and Mr. Madi Abdulrazzaq Al-Maliki from Basrah Oil Company. The event honored supporting organizations and institutions, including Basrah Gas Company, Basrah Oil Company, TAAM, and several universities. The first day's discussions covered topics like oil reservoirs, petroleum geology, corrosion, and environmental pollution in oil industries.
