The College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas at Basra University for Oil and Gas organized a conference entitled "Drug Phenomenon: Prevention and Control." Due to the instructions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to combat negative phenomena in society, under the slogan” Fight and reduce undesirable phenomena with knowledge and awareness " with the support of the President of Basra University for Oil and Gas, Dr. Mohammed Hliyil Hafiz AlKaabi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas, Dr. Sami Obeid Mohammed Al-Tamimi. The conference activities were conducted in the central conference hall at the university, in partnership with Basra Health Office and Basra Police Office.
The conference was divided into psychology consulting, legal, security, health, and economic aspects. The first session included three research papers that were presented. The second session of the conference included several research papers entitled "Drug Abuse and Dependency." , and "The Role of Rehabilitation Centers in Addiction Treatment through Non-Medical Methods." And "The Impact of Drugs on Economic Development."
In the end, It concluded with several recommendations, including continuous awareness seminars for students and youth on the importance of combating this phenomenon.
It is helpful to activate all deterrent legal measures according to the Law of Drugs and Psychotropic Article No. 50 ( 2017). and have psychological and social clinics to help youth overcome their problems and crises to save moral and social values.
