A committee from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research visited Basrah University for Oil and Gas to explore the possibility of establishing a proficiency exam for postgraduate studies applicants.

Basrah University for Oil and Gas welcomed a delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to assess the university's capacity to implement proficiency tests for the Arabic Language, English Language, and computer skills for those applying to postgraduate studies at the universities in Basrah. The President of Basrah University for Oil and Gas, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Hiliyil Hafiz Al-Kaabi, welcomed the ministry's delegation, accompanied by the vice-chancellor for scientific affairs Prof. Dr. Ammar Kazem Al-Ba’aj, Dr. Suroor Muayad Daoud, the director of the Electronic Computer Center,  and the director of the Continuing Learning Center, Assistant Lecturer Montathar Areebi Jasim.

The ministry's delegation toured the training rooms and computer labs to assess the available resources. They also reviewed the qualifications of the academic staff in English, Arabic, and computer skills. The ministry's delegation emphasized the importance of implementing such an examination at the university, especially given the university's plans to establish postgraduate programs in the near future.
