A delegation representing the Chinese company for oil field services (COSL) visited the presidency of Basrah University of Oil and Gas on Sunday, May 14. The delegation was received by the president of Basrah University of Oil and Gas, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Halil Hafez al-Kaabi, and members of the University Council; the Chinese delegation was headed by the Deputy Director General of the Iraq branch, Mr. Huang Xian, the director of the human resources department, Ms. Liu Jing, and the business manager, Ms. Zheng Xiaoting, with the company's Human Resources Coordinator, Mr. Ahmed Karim Jassim, the two sides discussed ways of mutual scientific cooperation, especially in the field of training students of all university faculties, and the company discussed Chinese possibility of assimilation. The two sides stressed the importance of upgrading the means of training university students in line with the needs of the labor market in the oil and gas sector, Al-Kaabi provided a detailed explanation to the Chinese company about the nature of the scientific departments in the college and the number of courses that the university has graduated so far, and the most prominent scientific and administrative stations in the work of the university since its establishment until now, the dean of the Faculty of Industrial Management of Oil and Gas, Dr. Sami Hashem Al-Saadi, also spoke about the nature of the faculty's departments and their importance in managing the oil sector, and the two sides agreed at the end of the meeting to thoughts on the coming days in preparation for making plans to develop the University's student capacities. The visiting delegation also toured the Faculty of Oil and Gas Engineering laboratories and classrooms. It was received by the dean of the Faculty, assistant professor Dr. Abbas Abdul Amir Jassim. The Chinese delegation expressed its admiration for the quality of the university students and the importance of their specialties to serve the oil sector in all governorates of Iraq with their desire to see the graduation projects for students of the fourth stage of this year in the faculties of the University. The company's delegation met with the students of the fourth stage of the Departments of the Faculty of Oil and Gas Engineering in the presence of the dean of the faculty, the Scientific Assistant, the heads of the scientific departments, and the director of the Department of missions and cultural relations, professor Dr. Raad Za’alan Hammoud. The Company has indicated its willingness to involve the graduates of the College in the courses held by the Company's Training Centre to qualify them to work in the oil companies, with a number of them appointed to the Company. The head of the Chinese delegation stated that the training program starts after the applicants pass an interview conducted by the company after reviewing the curriculum vitae of each applicant; for its part, the College welcomed the initiative as it is in line with the vision of the University and is in the interest of college graduates and finding suitable job opportunities for their vital specialties in the labor market.
