Published date: 22 March, 2023

The College of Oil and Gas Engineering at Basrah University of Oil and Gas organized this morning, Monday 20/3/2023, a workshop entitled The Recent Progress of Nanotechnology For Oil & Gas Industry, in which the lecturer in the Department of Polymer and Petrochemical Engineering, Dr. Haifa Rahim Abdul Karim, lectured in the presence of a group of faculty and employees of the college, in which she referred to a brief overview of the use of nanotechnology in the field of oil and gas and discussed the use of this technology in various oil fields such as oil exploration, drilling and extraction, As the effect of adding nanoparticles appears in the field of drilling, as the addition of nanoparticles to drilling fluids improves the drilling process by preserving drilling fluids from loss and protecting drilling tools from corrosion, but in the field of oil extraction, the addition of nanoparticles helps to increase the extraction factor by three times compared to normal extraction methods. At the end of the workshop, the attendees discussed some important paragraphs and the lecture answered all questions.
