Basic Standards

1-The applicant must be an Iraqi citizen residing in Iraq.

2-The applicant should not be convicted of a felony involving moral turpitude.

3-The applicant should not be accused for disciplinary or criminal penalty.

4-Applicant wishing to obtain M.Sc. degree must already have a recognized B.Sc. certificate (minimum average is 70) and a recognized M.Sc. certificate for the PhD applicants.

5-If the applicant is an employee, he/she must serve at least two years before applying for a scholarship.

6-Age is set by the donors of scholarships.

7-The applicant must not be a postgraduate student.

 

Conditions

  • Donor Conditions: the donors of scholarships identify certain conditions regarding age, average, the efficiency of English Language, TOEFL, IELTS…etc.
  • Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Conditions:

1-The applicant must be an Iraqi citizen.

2-The applicant must not be a postgraduate student inside Iraq.

3-The minimum average of applicants with B.Sc. degree should be 70.

4-The minimum average of applicants with M.Sc. degree should be 70.

5-The applicant must serve two years at least after the last certificate he/she had obtained (except for those with an M.Sc. degree)

6-The age of applicants with a B.Sc. degree must be no more than 40 years, and the age of applicants with an M.Sc. degree must be no more than 45 years.

 

Required Documents

1-Nomination document that indicates applicant full name, average, serving period, date of birth, job title and an official document stating no objection for nomination.

2-Recognized and translated high school certificate and B.Sc. certificate are required for those applying to obtain the M.Sc. degree; and the recognized B.Sc. certificate and M.Sc. certificate are required for those applying to obtain the PhD degree.

3-Colored photocopy of the applicant's passport (type A or G)

4-M.Sc. research project for the M.Sc. applicants.

5-Summary of the M.Sc. research and the thesis of PhD degree are required for the PhD applicants.

6-International Health Certificate (Certified and Translated).

7-Copy of the Iraqi Nationality Certificate and ID card (Both should be translated and certified by a Legal Office).

8- C.V. in English Language.

9-Three recommendations (in English).

10-Published Researches, if any.

11-Declaration from Justice and Accountability Commission.

12-Non- Conviction certificate.

13-The Scholarships application form.

14-Applicants should provide warranty equivalent to all the salaries and allowances charged during the period of study.

15-Three new colored pictures.

Specific Regulations

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has decided to exclude students who obtained private scholarships (via correspondences with Universities) from the following conditions (age, average and job service period), provided that the student should not claim any financial merits from the Ministry. The condition should be documented by a legal commitment. Examples of those special scholarships are Fulbright and Chevening.

 

How to Apply for a Scholarship??

1-First of all, the University, via its Scholarships and Cultural Relations Department, declares the availability of Scholarships opportunities.

2-The filled out application forms from the colleges, centers and directorates are all sent to the University.

3-Then, a committee in the University is responsible for auditing all the application forms to decide all points of differentiation.

4-Candidates for scholarships are sent to the Central Scientific Committee for the purpose of selection, and then the endorsement of the University Chancellor is required.

5-The announcement of the accepted applicants.

6-After that, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research/ Legal and Administrative Department/ Financial Affairs Department is addressed to get the financial allocation.

7-After obtaining the approval of the availability of financial allocation, applicants must prepare the financial warranty.

8-The University order shall be released and at this point applicants are required to provide the following:

  • Copy of the translated and recognized certificates of the applicant.
  • Copy of job service summary.
  • Copy of the academic acceptance (primary and final).
  • Copy of the statement of justice and accountability commission.
  • Copy of the non- conviction certificate.
  • Copy of TOEFL and IC3 certificates (if required).
  • Copy of the passport and ID.
