Oil and Gas Engineering College

This department was established in 2013- 2014, it grants the B.Sc. degree in Oil and Gas Engineering. This department will contribute greatly to the rapid growth in the field of oil and gas industry and to the industrial sector of Iraq and the region; it shall supply the local and international markets with qualified oil and gas engineers.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Vision, Mission and Objectives

  • Vision: the department aspires to graduate qualified oil and gas engineers who shall contribute to the achievement of various projects in Iraq.
  • Mission: it seeks to provide the students with a contemporary educational and scientific experience to enrich their skills. It also aspires to graduate engineers with a comprehensive knowledge in the fundamentals of oil and gas engineering so that they can cope with their future practical career.
  • Objectives:
  • Emphasis on the key fundamentals of math, science and engineering technologies as well as petroleum technology.
  • Assist students to develop their skills regarding design processes that include defining problems, creative thinking, effective communication, information analysis and teamwork.
  • Assist students to understand the importance of their responsibilities and encourage them to work on scientific researches.

  • In addition to other courses which strike a balance between the practical and theoretical sides of this specialty.

     

    Future Vision: the department aspires to graduate qualified oil and gas engineers who shall contribute to the achievement of various projects in Iraq.

     

    Tasks: specialists of petroleum engineering are required to achieve the following functional tasks:

  • Conduct surveys to explore and develop oil and gas well studies.
  • Planning, design, development and full control of the drilling and extraction processes.
  • Testing oil and gas wells.
  • Cooperate with the geologists to learn more about the nature of rocks.
  • Determine the drilling methods to be used.
  • Monitoring of production and operation activities.
  • Undertaking leadership roles at oil refining faculties.
  • Overseeing the oil tanks.
  • The extraction of oil and gas from offshore platforms.
