Joint Workshop on Natural Gas Technologies

The Oil and Gas Engineering College at BUOG has received a delegation from Basra Gas Company represented by the Director of Production Operations Engineering Department, Dr. Anders Carlson, the Head of the Commercial Division and Economics of Energy, Philip Rose and the Engineer of Production Improvement Operations, Ahmed Al-Badran.

The Dean of Oil and Gas Engineering College, Dr. Firas Al- Badran, received the delegation; both sides discussed the possibilities of cooperation and scientific exchange and how to benefit from the practical foreign expertise to support the theoretical side. They also discussed the possibility of deciding a mechanism for coordination to hold training courses and workshops.

On the other hand, a workshop was held at Oil and Gas Engineering College with the participation of a number of lecturers and students; the workshop discussed the processes of natural gas extraction, gas isolation and processes of liquefaction and cooling. The workshop also discussed the economics of energy, the fundamentals of evaluating the projects and how to build programs to calculate profits based on the incomes and outcomes (project cashflow) as well as the costs of the obstacles facing the projects.
