Basra University for Oil and Gas organizes a training course on "Energy Economics in Iraq"

Under the patronage of the President of Basra Oil and Gas University, Professor Dr. Muhammad Halil Hafez Al-Kaabi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas, Professor Dr. Sami Obaid Muhammad Al-Tamimi, the Continuing Education Center at the Presidency of Basra Oil and Gas University, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas, organized a training course entitled (Energy Economics in Iraq) this morning, Tuesday, October 6, 2026, in the presence of a number of faculty members at the college.

The course, which is being taught by Dr. Maitham Abdul Hamid Radhan and Assistant Professor Shahd Hassoun Radhi, aims to introduce the concepts of energy economics and highlight the reality of the energy sector in Iraq, its importance in supporting the national economy, as well as reviewing the most prominent economic challenges facing this sector and the opportunities available for its development.

The course covers a number of specialized scientific topics, most notably the economics of oil and gas, the role of energy in the Iraqi economy, the factors affecting energy markets, the importance of managing oil and gas resources, as well as the challenges facing the energy sector and prospects for its development in a way that contributes to achieving sustainable economic development.
