The President of Basra University for Oil and Gas meets with top students in the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas

On Monday morning, September 28, 2026, the President of the University of Basra for Oil and Gas, Professor Dr. Muhammad Halil Hafez Al-Kaabi, met with a group of top students from the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas, both morning and evening studies (the second meeting with his students during this academic year). This was a direct, fatherly meeting entitled "The Student Asks and the University President Answers." At the beginning of the meeting, the President of the University of Basra for Oil and Gas welcomed the top students, emphasizing the importance of direct communication with them, listening to their opinions and needs, answering their questions, and providing scientific, educational, and guidance to contribute to the development of their academic journey and prepare them for the requirements of the labor market.

The meeting addressed a number of important topics:

1- The student's future in the College of Industrial Management and its relationship to the oil and gas industries.

2- The university’s mission is to prepare a student qualified with the knowledge, skills, and experience that makes him more prepared for the requirements of the labor market, and not just a recipient of information, but an active element, and to master the basics of industrial management and be aware of the value chain from exploration to refining, marketing, feasibility studies, accounting work, and project management.

3- Production analysis, data, digital transformation and artificial intelligence.

4- Quality, safety and development of technical English.

5- Professional ethics and commitment to integrity and transparency.

6- Communication and teamwork within multiple work teams.

The importance of strengthening the practical aspect of the study was also emphasized, and moving from traditional education to an integrated educational model that links educational outcomes with the needs of the labor market, in line with the requirements of the Bologna Process. In addition, the importance of organizing scientific field visits to national and international oil companies was emphasized, to enhance students’ practical experiences and link the academic aspect with the professional reality to build their bright future, God willing.
