Basra University for Oil and Gas organizes a training course on: "OSHA Occupational Health and Safety Management" for employees of the South Gas Company

Under the patronage of the President of Basra Oil and Gas University, Professor Dr. Muhammad Halil Hafez Al-Kaabi, the Continuing Education Center at the Presidency of Basra Oil and Gas University organized, on Sunday morning, September 13, 2026, a specialized training course entitled: “OSHA Occupational Health and Safety Management”, for employees of the South Gas Company.

The course, which was presented by Assistant Lecturer Muntadhar Oraibi Jassim, Head of the Training Division at the Continuing Education Center, featured intensive training content on the importance of applying international safety standards in vital facilities. The sessions included a detailed explanation of methods for assessing and monitoring potential risks in oil and gas work sites.

The course also focused on clarifying the modern scientific methods used in investigating field accidents and analyzing their causes, in addition to reviewing methods of measuring institutional performance and protecting the work environment from pollution, while highlighting the legislation and occupational health and safety laws adopted in the Iraqi oil sector to ensure the provision of a safe and sustainable work environment.

This course comes in response to the requirements of continuous professional development, and is part of a series of strategic programs and workshops implemented by the Continuing Education Center at Basra University for Oil and Gas, with the aim of enhancing prospects for joint academic and practical cooperation with oil companies.
