On Sunday morning, August 23, 2026, the President of the University of Basra for Oil and Gas, Professor Dr. Mohammed Hilal Hafez Al-Kaabi, held an extensive on-site briefing session with the University Committee for the Management of the University Presidency's Website and its Colleges, with the participation of specialists in information and communication technology. This session comes within the framework of the University's continuous efforts to keep pace with rapid digital transformations and develop its software infrastructure. His Excellency followed up on the progress made in the stages of building and developing the University's new website, and discussed mechanisms to raise its efficiency and reliability from both a software and technical standpoint. The meeting also witnessed a comprehensive review of the completion rates achieved during the past period, and an extensive discussion of the technical and organizational aspects, in addition to identifying the remaining steps to complete all electronic departments and services, which primarily aim to facilitate procedures and provide advanced and seamless electronic services that serve faculty, students, and visitors and meet their expectations.

This vigil embodies the spirit of loyalty to the martyrs, the finest of Iraq's heroic youth, who perished in one of the most brutal and heinous crimes in modern Iraqi history.The vigil began with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by a speech from the Director of the Media and Government Communication Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Haider Ali Al-Asadi, who spoke about this tragic anniversary and the sacrifices of the youth in defense of the homeland. This was followed by the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and a minute of silence in remembrance of the victims of the Speicher massacre, who, with their pure blood, inscribed immortal acts of devotion in defense of the nation. These acts will forever stand as a testament to the magnitude of the sacrifices made by the sons of Iraq in confronting the forces of darkness and terrorism. This vigil comes in response to the directives of the Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and is part of the national activities that the University of Basra for Oil and Gas is keen to hold to commemorate national occasions and remember the sacrifices of the martyrs who gave their lives in defense of Iraq and its people. The Basra Oil and Gas University delegation included Dr. Fatima Hadi Ahmed, Director of the Dormitory Affairs Department; Dr. Nashat Nael Ali, Head of the Housing Division; Dr. Haider Ali Al-Asadi, Administrative Assistant for the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas; Assistant Lecturer Hussein Al-Ahmed, a member of the Dormitory Supervision Committee from the College of Petroleum and Gas Engineering; Ms. Amal Abdulwahid Hassan, Head of the Social Research Division; and Ms. Hind Muhannad Ahmed, Head of the Accounts Division in the dormitories. They were received by Assistant Lecturer Muntadhar Jumaa Mahdi, Director of Dormitory Affairs at Basra University. The two sides discussed early preparations for housing our university students for the 2026-2027 academic year and preparations for implementing the maintenance plan during the summer vacation and providing the necessary supplies for the internal departments in a way that serves the students and provides them with a suitable educational environment that helps them pass their studies and succeed. The two sides also agreed to strengthen safety procedures and the emergency plan within the internal departments according to the ministerial directives in this regard, while emphasizing the awareness and guidance aspects in various topics that enhance the integration of the university student.
