The Head of the Women’s Affairs Division at the University of Basra for Oil and Gas, Dr. Fatima Hadi Ahmed, participated this Wednesday morning, October 21, 2026, in the ceremony announcing Law No. (128) of 2026—which concerns the strategy for women’s economic guidance—held at the Grand Millennium Hotel in Basra Governorate.

This participation took place as part of the "Supporting Economic Transformation in Iraq" (SET) project, implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in partnership with the Basra Provincial Council—specifically its Committee on Human Rights, Women, and Children.

The initiative aims to support women’s economic guidance, enhance the role of women in economic development, foster the growth of enterprises and innovation, and expand cooperation between the public and private sectors. These efforts are intended to create broader economic opportunities for women and strengthen their active participation in the process of sustainable development.

This involvement reflects the commitment of the University of Basra for Oil and Gas to maintaining a strong presence in community and developmental initiatives, as well as its dedication to supporting efforts aimed at the economic empowerment of women and the expansion of their role across various fields of development.
