The College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas organizes a scientific seminar on changes in the exchange rate of the Iraqi dinar against the US dollar.

Under the patronage of the President of Basra Oil and Gas University, Professor Dr. Muhammad Halil Hafez Al-Kaabi, the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas at Basra Oil and Gas University organized a scientific seminar this morning, Thursday, October 15, 2026, entitled: (Changes in the exchange rate of the Iraqi dinar against the US dollar: Causes, economic repercussions and ways to address them), in which the Dean of the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas, Professor Dr. Sami Obeid Muhammad Al-Tamimi, the Dean of the College of Administration and Economics/Al-Qurna, Professor Dr. Adnan Farhan Abdul Hussein Al-Jurani, and the lecturer in the Department of Oil and Gas Economics, Dr. Maitham Abdul Hamid Al-Rawdhan, were present.

The seminar was attended by the President of “Shatt Al-Arab Private University”, Professor Dr. “Taher Mohsen Mansour Al-Ghalibi”, Basra Governorate Council Member Dr. “Shukr Mahmoud Jassim”, Assistant Dean of the College for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. “Nassif Jassim Al-Abadi”, Dean of the “College of Administration and Economics” at “Al-Kunooz Private University”, Assistant Professor Dr. “Abdul Razzaq Amer Adnan”, Assistant Professor Dr. “Ahmed Saddam Abdul Saheb”, the heads of the scientific departments, the teaching staff, employees and students of the college.

This seminar aims to highlight the most important reasons that prompted the government and the Central Bank of Iraq to adjust the exchange rate from (1320 to 1520), and what the economic and social effects of adjusting the exchange rate are, and how they can be addressed in the short and long term.

The seminar was enriched by the interventions of the distinguished guests who contributed to the scientific dialogue, and the questions that provided important insights and information on the main topics, which were answered by the esteemed lecturers.
