The President of Basra University for Oil and Gas meets with top students in the College of Oil and Gas Engineering

On Sunday morning, October 11, 2026, the President of Basra University for Oil and Gas, Professor Dr. Muhammad Halil Hafez Al-Kaabi, met with a group of top students in the College of Oil and Gas Engineering for morning studies, in a direct fatherly meeting entitled (The student asks and the university president answers).

The University President welcomed the top students, stressing the importance of these meetings, which allow direct communication with students, listening to their opinions and needs, answering their questions, as well as providing scientific, educational, and guidance that contributes to enhancing their academic journey and preparing them for the requirements of the labor market.

The meeting addressed a number of important topics, most notably the digital and technological transformation at the University of Basra for Oil and Gas, and the importance of providing students with modern technical skills and keeping pace with the rapid developments in the labor market requirements for the oil and gas sector, in addition to discussing the importance of employing artificial intelligence and technological developments in engineering curricula and specializations in the field of the oil and gas industry.

It was also emphasized that students should develop the scientific and applied skills related to their specialization, and take advantage of summer training opportunities and practical experiences, in order to enhance their professional readiness and contribute to supplying the oil sector with qualified scientific personnel capable of keeping pace with developments in this vital sector.

During the meeting, the University President offered a number of scientific and guidance tips and directives, based on his experience and specialization in the field of oil and gas, urging students to continue their academic excellence, develop their skills, and take advantage of the educational and training opportunities provided by the university.

At the end of the meeting, the University President commended the top students for their excellence, stressing his keenness to continue holding such direct meetings, given their importance in strengthening communication between the university administration and its students, and listening to their ambitions and aspirations in a way that contributes to providing a university environment that supports excellence and creativity.
