In a move that embodies its scientific openness to global academic institutions and extends bridges of academic communication across continents, the European Association of Geologists and Engineers (EAGE) chapter at the University of Basra for Oil and Gas, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Maysaa Nouri Shehab, participated in a reference session and an inspiring virtual visit with its counterparts in the chapter of Brawijaya University in Indonesia, entitled “Beyond Borders,” on Friday, August 28, 2026. Communication and preparation for this meeting took place over the past 6 months. The virtual session witnessed an active attendance and distinguished participation that included twenty-six members from both sides. The University of Basra for Oil and Gas chapter was represented by a select group of student members, namely Maryam Nizar and Noor Al-Huda Aqeel from the fourth stage, in addition to Karrar Ahmed and Ali Emad from the third stage, who contributed effectively to enriching the dialogue and exchanging knowledge ideas.

This outstanding collaborative exchange provided both chapters with a valuable opportunity to share visions and ideas about organizational work methods and the workflow of internal teams, as well as to highlight pioneering programs and innovative initiatives planned for launch within joint future events and activities. The virtual session also included extensive and fruitful discussions rich with many valuable benefits and lessons, starting from exploring innovative design approaches and modern methods for developing visual and engineering content, and reaching the discussion of public relations strategies to enhance communication mechanisms and build academic partnerships, in addition to exchanging experiences in modern technical activities and workshops used in the energy sector and exploring ways to enhance student participation and their broader integration in the fields of oil and gas and earth sciences.

In a gesture of appreciation reflecting the excellence of the university delegation and the success of this international cooperation, Brawijaya University in Indonesia awarded a certificate of appreciation signed by their university president, Valentino Samuel LS - Chairman of IMGF UB, and Iffat Fawwaz Sinatrya - President of EAGE, in addition to Topantio Toha Sinurat - Chief Executive, to the delegation of the Basra Oil and Gas University chapter in recognition and appreciation of their effective efforts in making this distinguished scientific event a success. In conclusion, the administrative body of the Basra Oil and Gas University chapter expressed its sincere thanks and appreciation to their counterparts in the Indonesian chapter and its administration for their hospitality, their lively presentations, the certificate of appreciation, and the valuable discussions that resulted from the session, stressing the continuation of this joint bilateral cooperation and the organization of broader scientific events in the near future in a way that serves the educational and professional journey of the students of both universities.
