Opening of the First Integrated Software Laboratory at BUOG

    Basra University for Oil and Gas has witnessed the opening of the Engineering Software Laboratory for oil and gas, which is the first of its kind in Iraq. The event took place at the headquarter of Oil and Gas Engineering College with the participation of BUOG Chancellor, Dr. Ali M. Al- Mashat, the Chancellor Administrative Assistant, Dr. Abbas H. Abbas as well as the Dean of OGEC, Dr. Firas Al- Badran.

    Dr. Al- Mashat stated that," This laboratory includes specific accurate programs that are used to calculate future forecasts of oil reservoirs and their optimal production rate; these programs shall provide integrated studies on the oil fields and make it easier to determine the location of the wells accurately"; adding that the programs are going to be updated constantly to match the future international standards.

    For his part, Dr. Firas Al- Badran, highlighted the significance of the basic programs for oil and gas that are used in the laboratory such as (Petrel, Eclips and Techlog) which are certified in the international oil companies as the basic programs for the academic studies; noting that the exclusive supplier of these programs is Schlumberger Oil Company.
